Back in 2022, our founder drew his sister-in-law in a Secret Santa and spent forty minutes in a department store holding a scented candle. It was a fine candle. She opened it, said "oh, lovely," and set it down on the floor behind her chair. Nobody looked up. Nobody laughed. Somebody else had brought a pair of socks shaped like slices of bread, and that was the only gift anybody talked about for the rest of the night.
That's when it clicked: the gift isn't the object. The gift is the reaction. So we built a store around it.
What We Do Differently
We sell reactions, not products
Most gift shops sort by category — mugs, candles, socks, keyrings. We sort by what happens when the wrapping comes off. Every item in this store has to pass one test before we list it: would somebody film the moment it's opened? If the answer is no, it doesn't go in. That's why our catalogue is small, and why nothing in it is filler.
